Benefits of Online Therapy

Online therapy may seem unconventional, but it’s an easy and accessible way to experience therapy. And you will reap the same benefits from online therapy that you would from being in-person.

No commuting or rushing to appointments.

Start and end your session in the comfort of your own home or office.

All sessions are private and secure (we’ll use the HIPPA-compliant online system called Simple Practice).

All you’ll need is a web camera or smartphone camera, microphone and/or headphones (to cut down noise and keep sessions private), and a stable internet connection.

Online therapy is not appropriate for those in crisis. If you are experiencing thoughts of harming yourself or others, please call 911 (for police services), 988 (for mental health services) or go to the nearest emergency room.

How does it work?

  1. You’ll start off by scheduling your free, 20 minute consultation!

  2. During your free consultation, I’ll ask you some questions and offer you to ask me anything to make sure we’re a good fit for each other. If I cannot accommodate you for any reason, I’m happy to provide you a referral for someone I feel might be a great alternate option.

  3. After your consultation, I’ll email you a link to your client portal where you can complete the intake paperwork at your leisure prior to your first session. You’ll also receive a link to your virtual “waiting room,” and you’ll use this same link to attend every session.

  4. A few minutes before your session, you’ll simply click the link and wait until we begin the session. It will look similar to FaceTime or Skype, but from a more secure platform. Your Telehealth visit will be private and confidential. No appointment will ever be recorded.

Technical Requirements

Online therapy simply requires access to a device with a camera, microphone and an internet connection. A laptop with a webcam or smartphone will work great! Headphones or headsets can be useful in reducing outside noise and creating a more connected experience.
